Norway Notes on countries that start with N
Nepal has the only national flag that is not a rectangle: two stacked pennants in crimson with a blue border. Norway flies a red flag with a blue-bordered white Nordic cross, and the Netherlands has a red, white and blue horizontal tricolor, one of the oldest in Europe.
In Africa, Nigeria and Niger have similar names but different flags, green-white-green for Nigeria and orange-white-green with an orange disc for Niger. Namibia has a diagonal red band with a gold sun. Nicaragua is in Central America, Nauru is a tiny Pacific island state, and New Zealand shows the Southern Cross on a blue ensign.
North Korea and North Macedonia complete the UN members. Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom, while New Caledonia, Niue, Norfolk Island and the Northern Mariana Islands are territories.
Fun fact: Nauru is the smallest island nation in the world and the third smallest country by area.
