Countries That Start With X
No country starts with X. No UN member state, territory or dependency has a name beginning with this letter in English.
Why no country starts with X
X is one of the rarest letters in English place names, because few words begin with it. Names that do, such as Xi'an or Xiamen in China, are cities, not countries.
If you are looking for countries near X in the alphabet, try W, which has Wales, Wallis and Futuna, and Western Sahara but no UN member. Y has one country, Yemen, and Z has two, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Going the other way, V has Vanuatu, Venezuela, Vietnam and Vatican City. If you want a longer list of rare letters, check O with Oman, and Q with Qatar. Each of these letters has only one or a few entries, so they are quick to learn.
Fun fact: X is the only letter of the alphabet with no country, territory or dependency in English. Even Q and Y have one each.
