Notes on countries that start with J
Jamaica is a Caribbean island nation, and its flag is the only one in the world without red, white or blue. It uses a gold diagonal cross on green and black triangles.
Japan is in East Asia and flies a white flag with a red disc, the Nisshoki, often called the Hinomaru. Jordan is in the Middle East, and its flag combines the Pan-Arab black, white and green with a red triangle and a seven-pointed white star.
Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands, close to the coast of France. It is a self-governing Crown Dependency, not part of the United Kingdom, and its flag is a white field with a red saltire and the royal badge.
Fun fact: Japan is made up of more than 6,000 islands, though most people live on just four of them.
