Notes on countries that start with E
E has a strong African presence: Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Equatorial Guinea and Eswatini. Ethiopia is one of the oldest independent countries in Africa, and its green, yellow and red colors inspired many other African flags. Eswatini was called Swaziland until 2018.
In Europe, Estonia has a blue, black and white tricolor. England is part of the United Kingdom and uses the red St George's Cross. In the Americas there are Ecuador, named for the equator, and El Salvador, the smallest country in Central America.
East Timor, also called Timor-Leste, is in Southeast Asia and became independent in 2002, which makes it one of the newest countries in the world.
Fun fact: Equatorial Guinea is the only country in Africa where Spanish is an official language.
