Notes on countries that start with D
D is a short list, but it spans three continents. Denmark is in northern Europe, and its red flag with a white cross is the oldest national flag still in use. It is also the model for every Nordic cross flag.
Djibouti sits on the Horn of Africa, with a light blue and green flag and a red star on a white triangle. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is the largest country in sub-Saharan Africa by area.
Two Caribbean countries have very similar names. Dominica is a small island nation, and its flag has a purple Sisserou parrot. The Dominican Republic shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti and has a flag with a white cross and a coat of arms.
Fun fact: Dominica and the Dominican Republic are often confused, but they are two different countries.
