What the Myanmar flag emoji means

The Myanmar flag emoji shows yellow, green and red horizontal stripes with a large white star in the center. People use it on Independence Day on 4 January, which marks independence from Britain in 1948, and on Union Day on 12 February. It also appears for Thingyan, the water festival in mid-April, and for travel to Bagan and Yangon. Burma is the older English name for the country.
