What the Nepal flag emoji means
The Nepal flag emoji is the only national flag emoji that is not a rectangle: two stacked triangular pennants, crimson with a blue border, holding a white moon and a white sun. It is used for the Himalayas, mountaineering, and Nepali communities abroad. Constitution Day on 20 September marks the 2015 constitution, and Republic Day is celebrated in late May. Trekkers and climbers also post it from base camp on Everest, where it is often flown on prayer flag lines.
How to type the Nepal flag emoji
On iPhone or Android, open the emoji keyboard and search for โNepalโ or โflagโ. On a Mac, press Ctrl+Cmd+Space and type the same word. On Windows 10 and 11, press Win + . and search there, but Windows shows the letters NP instead of a flag, because Microsoft's emoji font has no country flags. The emoji is built from two regional indicator letters, N and P, which supported platforms combine into one flag. If you see the letters on another device, the app or font does not support flags.
