Which countries have black, yellow and white flags?

Every match on this list adds red, and many add green or blue as well. Uganda has six horizontal stripes in black, yellow and red, with a white disc holding a grey crowned crane. Brunei has a yellow field crossed by white and black diagonal bands, with a red emblem in the center. Zimbabwe has seven stripes of green, yellow, red and black, with a white triangle holding a red star and the Zimbabwe bird. Mozambique adds a red triangle, a star, a rifle and a hoe on green, black and yellow bands edged in white.

Eswatini is blue, yellow and red with a black and white Swazi shield. Dominica has a green field with a cross of yellow, black and white stripes. Guyana has a green field with a gold arrowhead and a black-edged red triangle. South Africa and Antigua and Barbuda also use all three.

Why do black, yellow and white usually come with red?

Black and yellow are among the oldest heraldic color pairs, used by the Habsburg monarchy for centuries. In modern African flags, they belong to the wider Pan-African palette of red, yellow, green and black, where white is added as an edging.

Black stands for the people, yellow for the sun or mineral wealth, and white for peace. A flag using only those three would be very dark and lacks the bright tone that most countries want in a national flag, so red or green is added.

How can you tell these flags apart?
